Billy Joel's catalogue moves from storytelling piano ballads to upbeat pop. That range makes a Billy Joel tribute work for both a listening audience and a dance floor, and Piano Man is one of the great singalong closers.
About our Billy Joel tribute
Our Billy Joel tribute is performed by Gaz Jenkins, a professional entertainer since 1999 whose career has included cruise contracts, theatre tours, weddings and corporate events.
How the show can be booked
Gaz Jenkins' show is fully self-contained and comes as two 45-minute sets or one 60-minute set, with background music available between sets. Splitting the show into two 45-minute halves keeps energy high across a long night. One hour-long show works when a DJ covers the rest of the night. Background music can fill the gaps between sets.
The songs guests will expect
Guests will expect the big hits from the 70s and 80s. These are the songs most people associate with Billy Joel:
- Piano Man
- Uptown Girl
- We Didn't Start the Fire
- Just the Way You Are
- My Life
- Tell Her About It
Highlights from the act's profile
- Gaz has been a professional entertainer since 1999, with cruise contracts, theatre tours, weddings and corporate events behind him.
- He hosted and compèred with Trevor Chance's Legends from 2016, so he is comfortable on the microphone between songs.
- The set runs from Cold Spring Harbor era songs to River of Dreams, with authentic costumes and choreography.

Space and set-up
The act brings its own sound equipment, so the venue only needs to provide space and power. A changing space a few steps from the stage keeps the costume changes quick. A live piano show needs a level, stable surface and step-free access for the instrument. Most performers need about an hour to set up and sound check before guests arrive in the room.
Where a Billy Joel tribute works best
- Milestone birthdays: Especially 50ths and 60ths for guests who grew up in the 70s and 80s.
- Corporate dinners: Sophisticated enough for a dinner, lively enough for after.
- Theatre-style and club shows: A strong ticketed night for venues.
- Weddings: Just the Way You Are is a popular first-dance choice.
Things to check before booking
- Would you like him to compère part of the evening?
- Is the event at a holiday park or festival, both of which his profile lists?
- Is there a song you can't do without, or one to avoid?
- What time does the venue need music to finish?

Getting the most from the night
A tribute performs best to a full, warmed-up room, so avoid starting the Billy Joel set straight after a long speech. Dimmed lights, a themed dress code and an open bar all help.
Acts that pair well
For a longer night or a themed event, consider pairing with Elton John Tribute, Rod Stewart Tribute or Phil James.
