Working men's clubs and social clubs have been the training ground for generations of British entertainers. Club audiences know what they like, and a good club act knows how to win them over.
The concert room
Most clubs have a concert room with a stage, a house PA and lighting, and tables facing the stage. Some acts use the house system; most bring their own. Tell us what your club has, and we'll check what the act needs.
Club audiences
Club audiences are loyal, sociable and honest. They expect:
- songs they can sing along to
- patter and personality, not just the songs
- an act who can handle the bingo or the raffle breaking up the night
Acts that suit clubland
- Club comics: Mark Ritchie, involved in clubland since the 70s.
- Vocal comedians: Craig Harper, a Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist.
- Seasoned all-rounders: Taff Tenerife.
- Comedy tribute: Lee Lard's Peter Kay tribute.
- Band nights: The New Triple X, covering the 60s to today.
The running order
Clubs often run a set pattern: first spot, bingo, second spot. Tell the act the timings in advance so they plan two balanced sets.
