Holiday parks are some of the busiest live-music venues in the country. Across a summer season a park's clubhouse may host dozens of different acts, playing to a new audience every week, with families, couples and groups of friends all expecting a great night out.
We've supplied entertainers to holiday parks, caravan sites and hotels for many years. This guide covers how to plan a season that keeps guests happy and coming back.
Know your guests week by week
The audience at a holiday park changes through the season, and the programme should change with it.
- School holidays bring families with young children. Early-evening shows need to be family-friendly, with a children's entertainer or a family band before the main act.
- Term time and shoulder seasons often bring older couples and groups who enjoy cabaret, vocal entertainers, comedians and classic tributes.
- Bank holidays and themed weekends are a chance to put on something bigger.
Look at your booking data and plan the entertainment around who is actually staying.
Build a balanced weekly programme
Variety keeps guests in the clubhouse every night of their stay. A typical week might include:
- A family show early in the evening – a children's entertainer like Sparky Marky or a children's favourite tribute such as our Jo Jo Siwa tribute
- A vocal entertainer for a relaxed night, such as Simon Young
- A comedy night with a vocal comedian like Chris Britten
- A tribute night – ABBA, Elvis, Queen and Motown are reliable favourites
- A big party night with a band such as Black Lace or a family band like Beardsmith
- A speciality show such as a stage hypnotist like Grant Saunders
Avoid booking two similar acts on consecutive nights. Guests staying for a week notice.
Think about your room
Clubhouse stages vary a lot. Before booking, share with the agency:
- The stage size and whether there's a house PA and lighting rig
- Power arrangements and where the act can load in
- Any sound limits, especially if the clubhouse is close to caravans or lodges
- Changing facilities for the performers
Many acts are self-contained, but if you have a good house system, some may be able to use it.
Timing the night
Family parks often run a two-part evening: a children's show or disco around early evening, followed by the main adult act later. Agree set times with each act and make sure the bar team knows the schedule.
Themed weeks and special events
Themed events give guests a reason to book again.
- Decades weeks with 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s tributes
- A Motown and soul weekend
- A comedy festival with several comedians over a weekend
- Halloween and bonfire weekends at the end of the season
- Christmas and New Year breaks with festive shows
Booking a full season
Booking a whole season through one agency has advantages:
- One point of contact for every act
- A balanced programme without repeats
- Cover if an act cancels at short notice. Our emergency letdown service runs 365 days a year.
Start planning the following season during the autumn, as many popular acts fill their summer diaries early.
Feedback
Ask guests what they enjoyed. A simple question on a feedback form, or a quick chat at the bar, tells you which acts to bring back.
Promoting your entertainment
Great entertainment only helps if guests know about it. A few simple steps make a big difference:
- Publish the weekly programme in the welcome pack and on noticeboards
- Use the acts' approved photos on posters and social media
- Mention the headline acts in pre-arrival emails
- Announce the evening's show at the end of the children's entertainment
Most of our acts can supply promotional photos and short descriptions.
Getting the balance right between family and adult entertainment
Families with young children want an early show they can enjoy together. Couples and groups without children often want a later, livelier night. A two-part evening handles both: a children's show and disco from early evening, then a break, then the main act later on. Make sure the main act knows there may still be some children in the room early in their set.
Reliability matters more at a holiday park
Your guests have paid for a holiday that includes entertainment, and an empty stage on a Saturday night leads to complaints. That's why reliability is just as important as talent. Book acts with a strong track record, keep their contact details to hand, and work with an agency that can provide cover at short notice.
Budgeting for a season
Planning a season's budget in advance helps you spread the spend sensibly. Put your bigger headline acts on peak weeks and bank holidays when the park is full, and use versatile vocal entertainers and comedians on quieter nights. Ask us for a season plan with a mix of acts at different levels.
Older-guest weeks
Many parks run adult-only or over-50s weeks outside school holidays. These audiences often love cabaret: vocal entertainers, comedians, swing singers, Motown and classic tributes such as Tom Jones, Elvis and Karen Carpenter. Bingo and quiz nights hosted by a compère also go down well.
