Ideally you'd book entertainment months ahead, but plans change. An act can drop out, a venue can come free or a party can be arranged at short notice. Here's how to give yourself the best chance.
Be flexible
The more flexible you are, the more options you'll have:
- Act type: be open to a singer instead of a band, or a duo instead of a tribute.
- Set length: one 60-minute show may be available where two sets aren't.
- Timing: an earlier start can help acts with a second booking nearby.
Have your details ready
When you enquire, send everything in one go:
- Date, venue name and town.
- Start and finish times.
- Number and age of guests.
- The type of act you want, and one or two backups.
- Any limits on space, power or sound.
Acts that are easier to book late
Solo vocalists and duos often have more flexibility than larger bands or headline tributes, because they have fewer diaries to coordinate. Versatile entertainers such as Kim B, Joseph O'Brien or Chris Britten, who can be booked as a comic or a singer, can cover several types of event.
Busy dates
Fridays and Saturdays in December, bank holiday weekends and summer Saturdays book up first. Weeknights and Sundays often have more availability, even at short notice.
Use the availability check
Our availability check lets you send your date quickly. We'll come back with acts who are free.
