Entertainment in the Spen Valley

About the area

Liversedge, Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike sit within a couple of miles of each other along the A62 and A638, with Gomersal, Birkenshaw, Scholes, Hightown and Roberttown close by. Junctions 25 and 26 of the M62 are a short drive away, which is one reason so many acts can reach the valley easily from across West Yorkshire and beyond.

Because we're based here, we can often answer practical questions about a local venue quickly, and if you'd rather talk face to face about your event, the office is open Monday to Friday, 11am to 5pm.

Venues in the Spen Valley

The valley has a strong tradition of social clubs, working men's clubs and sports clubs, many of which still put on live entertainment every weekend. Alongside those you'll find:

• Cricket, rugby and football club function rooms, popular for birthdays, christenings and anniversaries
• Pub function rooms suited to smaller parties
• Community and church halls for family events and fundraisers
• Hotels and country venues a short drive away for weddings and larger celebrations

Each room is different, so when you enquire we ask about the stage or performance area, power, sound limits and finish time.

Popular events locally

The busiest requests we get from the Spen Valley are for milestone birthdays, ruby and golden wedding anniversaries, christenings, club entertainment nights and Christmas parties. A vocal entertainer or a tribute act is the classic choice for a club function room; for a family party, an all-ages act such as ABBA or a children's entertainer early in the evening works well.

Acts that suit Spen Valley rooms

Club and function rooms here tend to suit self-contained acts who can set up quickly and adapt to a mixed crowd: vocal entertainers, guitar and keyboard vocalists, vocal comedians and solo tributes. For bigger rooms and weddings, duos and function bands come into their own. The acts below are a starting point; every one can be checked for your date on their profile page.
