Football, rugby and cricket clubs host presentation nights, sportsmen's dinners, fundraisers and members' parties. Each type of event suits different entertainment.
Events and acts
- Sportsmen's dinners: a comedian is the classic choice. Jack Ryan lists corporate events, award ceremonies and charity dinners, and Billy Pearce has decades of experience. Agree the tone in advance.
- Junior presentation nights: a short, family-friendly show, such as a children's entertainer or a magician.
- End-of-season party: a party band such as Black Lace or Fresh Grooves.
- Fundraisers: a fun casino gives guests something to do between courses.
Clubhouse practicalities
- Bar rooms: many clubhouses have one main bar room. Agree where the performer goes, and whether the bar stays open during the act.
- TVs: if a match is on, decide whether screens are switched off during the show.
- Access: check the route for equipment, especially if the clubhouse is reached through a car park or pitch.
- Power: older clubhouses can have limited sockets.
Running order
Keep presentations short and put the act afterwards, while guests are still in the room. Read our presentation night guide.
